The Wholesale qualification is well suited to Wholesale environments, as well as Business-To-Business and Business-To-Consumer sales, combining the two different skill sets, and is generally considered broader and more widely applicable than a Business Sales qualification. Wholesale qualifications also cover Purchasing functions, and so can be very useful for key members of smaller teams that may have to cover both Sales and Purchasing.

Units in the Certificate III in Wholesale qualification include selling and customer service (including lead generation techniques), relationship management techniques, purchasing and supplier interaction, product knowledge, retail skills, and merchandising. Trainees undertaking higher levels of Wholesale/Retail training will also gain skills and knowledge in team management and development skills, as well as a stronger focus on business development.
