SA ASbA – Australian School based Apprenticeship

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships allow students to start their career journey while completing their South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE). This program offers the unique opportunity to gain workplace experience, earn a wage, and work towards a qualification at the same time.

About the Program

School-based apprenticeships and traineeships combine:

  • School studies toward your SACE
  • Paid employment with an approved employer
  • Nationally recognised vocational qualification
  • Hands-on workplace training

Getting Started

To begin your school-based apprenticeship or traineeship, you’ll need to:

  • Choose a suitable apprenticeship or traineeship pathway
  • Get approval from your parent/guardian (if under 18)
  • Obtain support from your school’s VET coordinator
  • Find an employer through job searches, approved employer registers, or Group Training Organisations
  • Sign a formal training contract
