School-based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SATs) in Queensland allow students to work towards a nationally recognised qualification while completing their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). This pathway provides valuable hands-on industry experience while at school.
About the Program
SATs enable students to:
- Start working towards a trade qualification while still at school
- Gain hands-on experience in the workplace
- Earn while they learn
- Fast-track their career pathway
- Contribute to their QCE points
Program Structure
The program involves:
- Paid employment with a business
- Structured training with a registered training organisation
- School studies
- Students typically spend one day per week in the workplace or complete blocks of training
Eligibility
To be eligible for a SAT, you must:
- Be in Year 10, 11 or 12
- Be enrolled at a Queensland school
- Have support from your school
- Have parent/guardian consent
- Find a suitable employer
- Meet any specific industry requirements
