TLILIC0003 – Licence to operate a forklift truck

Certification & Licensing

To get a forklift license in Queensland, you must:

1. Enroll in a high-risk work training course with a registered training organisation (RTO).
2.  Complete the required theoretical and practical assessments.
3. The RTO provides you with an assessment summary as proof of competency.
4. Apply for your high-risk work licence through the WorkSafe Queensland online portal, submitting proof of identity, your assessment summary, and the application fee.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to:

• Plan the Work or Task: Assess equipment suitability, identify hazards, and ensure safety requirements are met.
• Prepare for Work: Conduct routine equipment checks, complete necessary documentation, and ensure the forklift is safe to operate.
• Perform the Task: Safely lift, transport, and position loads.
• Pack Up: Shut down and secure the forklift according to workplace and regulatory standards.

Delivered onsite or workplace-based only, this training is designed to meet state-specific high-risk work requirements. The course covers safety protocols, hazard identification, load handling, and best practices. This ensures practical, real- world learning in your work environment.

Course Type & Duration

We offer flexible training options to suit your experience and needs:

1. Full Licensing Course (Up to 8 hours in total, depending on experience)
   • • Ideal for all operators, includes theory, practical training, and assessments.
     • For small groups with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 participants.
2. Forklift Licensing with Traineeship
   For those looking to obtain their forklift
   license alongside a traineeship.
   Provides comprehensive training and assessment aligned with workplace development.
3. Refresher/Verification of Competence (Up to 1 day, depending on experience)
   A combined course for experienced operators requiring certification renewal.
   Includes a theory recap and a practical assessment.
   Groups of up to 10 participants – onsite bookings only.
